Directed by Josh Cohen and produced by New Commercial Arts, this film announcing Saka’s new Nandos sauce took strong inspiration from the chaotic style of ‘The Bear’.
The dialogue mix and sound design was key in creating the energy and ‘real life’ kitchen atmosphere that Josh wanted to embrace. Layers of sizzles, equipment humming and rattling in the background, knife chopping to the right and pan’s clattering to the left. With only 45 seconds to create world and give breaks and builds in energy, the flow of the sound design was important in delivering the humour and messaging of the film.
Music went back and forth between Nandos’ typical genre choices for their brand and the energetic atmosphere that Josh wanted to create. The end result was an adaptation of a track of ours ‘Sub Zero’ whereby we removed the reggae style elements and added some rhythmic only sections so it better suited the brand’s style.
