A wonderful, 5 minute film directed by Raja Virdi on the Lancashire, women’s cricket team ‘Thunder’.
This was all shot on film and wanted the music and sound design to reflect this aesthetic as much as possible which meant plenty of emulations and saturation to give texture and warmth to the audio.
A Sza track was the primary reference for the music, with muted, nylon guitar chords that give an emotive but inspiring feel to the film. We brought in session guitarist Will Goddard to add the real, human element to the music and elevate the soundtrack above simply using virtual instruments.
The music has themes that carry through the film but intertwine with new melodies, pacing and harmonic progression each time a new character is introduced.
Sound design is kept subtle but used in a way to elevate the visuals. Emphasising texture, film burns and the overall nostalgic feel to the film.
