MUSIC & SOUND DESIGN
The third film within a series that EA commissioned, profiling some of the biggest names in football.
All shot on 35mm film – the music had to compliment the retrospective, nostalgic tone and feel to the piece. Synths and e-pianos were the go to instrument choices, using simple but satisfying chord progressions to create a warmth to the music. The structure was simply to repeat the intro music but build upon it for the climax. We added layers of musical textures to the music, building and rising to the final shot which dramatically cuts to ambient noise.
Sound design was crucial in selling the visuals. With some audio recorded on set, work in the studio was to add ambient layers which place the scenes in their environments as well as adding kicks and actions which were otherwise missing.
The final result is a brilliant balance of music, VO and sound design that we’re thrilled with.
